Over the years, the social side of the Casuals has reflected the changing times. Early Pie and Pea suppers were superceded by formal dinner dances in mid winter. Times have changed, and our current list of activities is small but perfectly formed. The annual pre-season dinner at Woodsome Hall Golf Club is a good evening to anticipate the coming season and remember some of the glories of the past years, well watered and fed in the splendid baronial hall there. The Presidents day at Thongsbridge is an opportunity for the club to field a President's vs Chairman's game, both captains using their accumulated knowledge of the perceived weaknesses of the opposition to wrest the ceremonial Casuals duck away from the sweaty grasp of the Chairman (traditional winner of the game since Jim Netherwood rewrote the rules of the game to make it so....). This is followed by an end of season buffet in the clubhouse with a few speeches and end of season awards.
More recently established is the Golf Day, held to raise money for the hospice in memory of one of our past players, with a hard fought 18 holes being rewarded by an excellent meal and award ceremony in the clubhouse.
